Code of Conduct
Enterprize Tasmania Ltd - Code of Conduct
Purpose
Enterprize Tasmania Ltd (Enterprize) is a not for profit entity tasked with building a thriving startup ecosystem in Tasmania. The successful growth of our community will create jobs, attract and retain talent and skills, and diversify economic development across the state.
We aim to provide a space that is exciting, safe, welcoming and inspiring; where innovators and entrepreneurs choose to spend their time developing ideas.
General
Enterprize is committed to providing a positive environment for all community members, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status or religion.
Enterprize is an innovation hub, however this Code applies to all users of our facilities. Whether you’re using a hot-desk, have private office use, are hiring meeting room facilities or event spaces, this Code applies to you.
In order to meet reporting requirements, Enterprize will monitor and report on how our spaces are being used and by whom (this may include tracking event numbers and monitoring daily/weekly usage). Only anonymised data will be reported, no personal information will be disclosed.
Expected Behaviour
- Be an Enterprize champion. We are lucky to be here, so let’s ensure our supporters, our peers and the wider community are impressed by our operation. This means tidying up after yourself, helping out with setup of the space and supporting events (bring your friends and colleagues, encourage new people to get involved). It also means talking to us when there’s something you feel is wrong, and shouting to the world when we do things well.
- Take pride in and actively contribute to our space. Keep the kitchen and fridge tidy, restock the bathroom supplies if they’re empty, change the bins if they’re full, maintain a tidy workspace (remove rubbish, clean up spills).
- Be part of the community. Community members have a responsibility to be aware of the skills and knowledge available, and the ideas and startups being explored in their hub(s). Enterprize can point you in the right direction when you’re after specific assistance, but mix it up and connect with people working on different projects.
- No stealing. Not property, not ideas, not data. As an innovation hub, our community members should feel safe (and be willing) to share information about their ideas, startups and businesses in good faith for the benefit of the startup community. This should be without fear of having their intellectual property or commercially sensitive information being used in the development of another idea. Having said that, if you have IP worth protecting, protect it! We can point you in the direction of some experts to help.
- Always be kind. Demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behaviour and speech is not okay, and won’t be tolerated (in person or online). Respect each other’s physical and mental boundaries. Enterprize staff have the final word on what is acceptable.
- Respect each other’s space, property (including personal food items) and the noise level in the hub. Community members should be able to comfortably take a phone call or meet with clients/investors in the space.
- Remember that Enterprize is a not for profit organisation, so please be considerate when requesting expenditure or utilising community facilities and resources. Unnecessary wastage or damages will reduce how much we can spend on community programs and activities.
- Be active online. Our community exists beyond its physical locations, so make sure you’re staying connected, e.g. on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and importantly, Slack.
Unacceptable Behaviour
Enterprize should be a place where innovators love to spend their time, and a certain level of professional behaviour is expected. The following (not an exhaustive list) will not be tolerated:
- Harassment, including but not limited to: offensive verbal comments, humiliation and intimidation; unwanted physical contact or advancements; or the display of inappropriate content. Parties asked to cease any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
- Theft of ideas, data, information or property (including intellectual property and commercially sensitive information shared in the space in good faith).
- Misuse of the premises (as outlined in the Terms and Conditions of Use).
- Smoking (including e-cigarettes) inside, within three (3) metres of any entrance/exit, or within 10 metres of the hub’s ventilation air intake.
Reporting Guidelines
If you are subject to, or witness behaviour that is inconsistent with this Code, please contact the Enterprize Staff at your hub in the first instance. Complaints may be referred for discussion with the Enterprize Staff or CEO. If you feel that you cannot discuss your concerns with the Enterprize Staff at your hub for any reason, please raise them directly with the Enterprize Staff.
Complaints regarding minor breaches of the Code may be made verbally. Any complaints that require a follow up action should be made in writing.
Enterprize will not disclose the identity of the person making the complaint to any other parties, without permission from the complainant.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behaviour
Community members or visitors acting in breach of the Code will be subject to a formal process with Enterprize staff members. At the discretion of the CEO , any action deemed appropriate may be taken, up to and including a temporary or permanent ban from the hubs. Other consequences may include:
- A requirement to provide a written or verbal apology;
- A formal warning (outlining that future breaches may incur a ban);
- A requirement to attend training or counseling; or
- A ban from using Enterprize facilities (if the breach is severe).
