Case Study - Cycle Inspect

For cyclists wanting to protect their bike, their safety and their hip pocket, Cycle Inspect is a digital platform that connects riders, retailers and repairers for fast, simple and cost-effective safety inspections.

Michael Briggs watched his father go through a painstakingly long and costly process of testing and repairing his carbon fibre bike. He saw a significant gap in the market and an opportunity to develop technology to make the process of testing bikes faster and more cost effective for consumers, empowering them to make a better purchasing decision.

“We are directly addressing the uncertainty that exists around the structural integrity and safety of carbon fibre bicycles (of which much of the potentially catastrophic damage is undetectable to the naked eye) by making the highest quality ultrasonic scanning equipment more accessible to bike riders.”

Michael says he was eager to test his assumptions, connect with like minded entrepreneurs working at a similar early stage, and develop a more clear plan for his next steps. The Born Global Incubator format addressed all these needs, and more! “I have built a deeper understanding of the sorts of common questions potential investors will ask and what is important to them, and used a variety of methods to systematically test assumptions and narrow down my target audience.”

With a potential audience of over 750,000 “committed hobbyists” (serious riders, members of clubs, etc), Michael is looking forward to pitching to potential investors and taking the next steps towards getting Cycle Inspect to market.
